today's notes

may your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. and I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself. neil gaiman

I hate people to ask cheerfully how you are when they know you’re feeling like hell and expect you to say ‘Fine.

you can never really know someone completely. that’s why it’s the most terrifying thing in the world, really taking someone on faith, hoping they’ll take you on faith too.it’s such a precarious balance, it’s a wonder we do it at all.

μυστική συνταγή της μαμάς

Peanut Butter Filled Chocolate Cookies

Cookie Dough:

1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (Earth Balance) margarine, softened
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Egg replacer or two eggs

Cookie Filling:

3/4 cup peanut butter

3/4 confectioners sugar

In a small bowl combine flour, cocoa, and baking soda; blend well. In large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, margarine, and 1/4 cup peanut butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and eggs (replacer); beat well. Stir in flour mixture until blended and set aside.

In a small bowl, (preferably a vintage Pyrex mixing bowl - I’m kidding! Just seeing if you’re paying attention) combine filling ingredients and blend well. Roll into 30 one-inch balls.

For each cookie, with floured hands (I didn’t do the flour and had no problems), shape about 1 tablespoon cookie dough around one peanut butter ball, covering completely. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 - 9 minutes or until set and slightly cracked. Cool on wire racks. Makes 30.

Note: I made larger cookies and baked them for about 10 - 12 minutes.

the saddest kind of sad is the sad that tries not to be sad.
you know, when sad tries to bite its lip
and not cry and smile and go,
“no, I’m happy for you”?
that’s when it’s really sad.

change if you want.
but don’t change for me.
I can love you as you are.
I didn’t mean to make you want to leave.
in the endless fight of grace and pride,
I don’t want to win this time.
it’s a fight between heart and mind,
and no one really wins this time.

Let's draw hearts that carve into the sand
I'll smile as I hold your hand
Let's listen to the waves crash
As our hearts collide.

Let's lace our lips together when
Your hair flows in the gentle wind
Let's swim into the sunset
Where you and I can hide

You are my kind of Beautiful, Beautiful
You are my kind of Beautiful, Beautiful
So chase what you feel I swear this is real
And Kiss me hard
I'll stare in your eyes, share your butterflies
And steal your heart

You're beautiful like I have never seen
I want this so bad, I feel crazy. Crazy...

Believe it: YSL x Puma
Yves Saint Laurent doesn't have much of a high street collaboration history to speak of but, between The Manifesto and Edition Unisex Collection it should come as no surprise that the brand would move in that direction. Following in the footsteps of Alexander Mcqueen and Sergio Rossi, Stefano Pilati designed a YSL men's shoe for Puma poised to hit shelves any day now. The sneaker, which comes in all-black and brown, blends "Stefano Pilati’s design prowess and the activewear firm’s technical expertise".

A.P.C. Joins the Club, Does Liberty Prints

French contemporary brand, A.P.C. just launched a small collection of liberty prints thanks to a partnership with liberty fabrics. Retro florals and paisleys are not exactly new terrain for the brand, nor are the silhouettes used in the mini-collection: a folar smock dress, a knee lenght skirt, a carry all tote bag. We're sure plenty of overheated fashionistas will find these pieces just the trick for getting through the hot summer months. It seems like minded brand, Steve Alan, happens to agree. They've launched a series of liberty print summer items as well. Their collection includes a similar range of items, however, we happen to think the fashion world is big enough for both of them.
